Leo Movie Review: Lokesh Kanakaraj.. This single name has a good fan base. Loki created a cinematic universe called “LCU” to express his unique identity. "Leo" is the film that has come before the audience from that director. How is this movie starring Vijay and Trisha? Is “Leo” part of the “Loki Cinematic Universe”? Or not? Let's know all such things through this review.
Leo Movie Story:
Pardhivan (Vijay) is an orphan. He lives by running a coffee shop in an area of Himachal Pradesh. He has a beautiful family. However.. due to a fight in that area, Pardhivan is in the news. At the same time, his family also gets into trouble. As Pardhivan's photo appears in the paper, the bullies in many parts of the country will be alerted. Finally, Pardhivan's photo reaches Anthony Das (Sanjay Dutt) and Harold Das (Arjun) in Telangana. And when Anthony Das comes into Pardhivan's life, what kind of turn will the story take? What is the link between Leo and Pardhivan? Are these two people? Or.. only one? Apart from all this, what is Leo's relationship with Anthony Das? That is the rest of the story.
Leo Movie Analysis:
A short word before going into the “Leo” movie analysis. Lokesh Kanakarajan's career is at stake. Remember this one word. In the end, let's say why we had to say this. And "Leo" is a very short line in terms of story. Loki, who opened the narration away from the conflict point of the story, gave a hint to the audience that he had made a normal movie. Himachal Pradesh's background, the coffee shop, the family, and the very simple life of the hero is shown in the first 15 minutes. After such an establishment, as usual, the audience does not have any over-expectations. But.., the audience coming to the movie Leo thinks that where does the movie link in the “Loki Universe”? When will those characters come into this film? till the end with the anxiety of where the link between Vikram and Leo will be. This is Leo's biggest minus. Whenever there are additional layers to the storytelling, special characters... give the audience a good kick. But.., if you have to watch a movie for those special elements, you will feel cheated at first. The same thing happened with "Leo".
When Anthony came into Pardhivan's life.. the audience's expectations also reached peaks. What the audience wants from here is definitely Leo's story, not just Pardhivan's. This is called auditorium mood in film parlance. Lokesh Kanakaraj, who failed to grasp this matter, focused more on Pardhivan's story in the second half as well. With this, if the audience wants one thing from the movie "Leo", then the director takes another. From here the audience will not miss the connection with the film. So.. the backdrop of Leo's characterization at a time when the story is going so dull.. just coming and going like this is really unfathomable. Lokesh Kanakaraj could not establish the whole sequence which is the actual conflict point.. which should be highlighted. Such a simple story.. No matter how well made it is shown, no matter how many twists are put in it, no matter how many twists are put in it, even if it is finally linked to the Loki universe, the damage that should have been done has already been done.
And.. As mentioned earlier, Lokesh Kanakarajan's career is really in danger. He has brought himself a crown of thorns called "Loki Cinematic Universe". Now not only every movie he makes, but also every scene he makes, the audience is watching with that cinematic universe mood. See also. Are there any more Loki movies in that range? It is not because of other directors that Lokesh Kanakaraj is caught. Not so.. If Loki changes his track, there is no way the audience will receive him.
Actors Performance:
Vijay is to be admired on the whole in Leo. It can be said that Lokesh believed in Kanakaraj more than he strongly believed in this story. In many scenes, he acted leaving aside his stardom and his following. And the acting is also very settled and in a range that the Telugu audience will like. If not.. In the case of Vijay's dubbing, the lip sync was missed in many scenes. This made his hard work meaningless. Trisha's role as the heroine is very small. And although Arjun's look is amazing in the role of Harold Das, there is no scope for acting. Sanjay Dutt is as impressive as Anthony Das. Gautham Menon's performance as the forest ranger Joshi is amazing.
Technical Section:
Anirudh.. what to say about that music? Goose Bumps That's It. Even some simple scenes in Leo seem overwhelmed with Anirudh's BGM. As long as Anirudh's music is there.. it is as if the directors have gained half their strength. After Anirudh, the main thing to talk about is Manoj Paramahamsa's cinematography. Especially in the action blocks, Paramahamsa did the trick. The single take-action sequence in the second half and the chasing shots are amazing. Let's talk about the director Lokesh Kanakaraj. Loki's strength as a director is the way he tells the story. This is the magic that happened in Khaidi and Vikram movies. But in "Leo" Loki is lost as a storyteller. But..., hats off to his making style. And the production values have gone up.
