Zebra Movie Review: The audience also appreciates short films if they have content. The film 'Ka', which was released two weeks ago, has proven this once again. This week too, more than half a dozen short films have come to test their luck at the box office. One of them is 'Zebra'. This film, starring Satyadev, who is waiting for a good break as a hero, has come before the audience with what kind of story? How much is the audience likely to appreciate it?. To know how much 'Zebra' will be a plus for Satyadev's career, we have to go into the review.
Story:
Surya (Satyadev) works as an employee in a bank. He plans to live a comfortable life without buying a flat of his own for his mother, whom he loves dearly, and for his colleague Swathi (Priya Bhavani), whom he has loved for five years. However, one day, due to a mistake made by Swathi in the bank regarding a customer, the money that should have gone into one's account goes into the other's account. To solve this problem, Surya uses his intelligence to block the loopholes in the banking sector and deliver the money to the original customer on the same day. However, this puts Surya in trouble.
5 crores are deposited in the bank account in Surya's name. After that, the activities of that account stop. Gangster Adi (Dolly Dhananjaya) enters Surya's life to transfer those five crores to his account. From here on, the story takes strange turns. Who is Adi? What is his background? What is his relationship with Surya? Will Surya return the five crores? What happens after that? It is a must-see on the silver screen.
Analysis:
This is a film set in the banking sector. An attempt has been made to show what kind of financial crimes can be committed based on the minor flaws in today's banking systems. However, the director also mixed a gangster story with this. Many people still do not know the process of the banking system. The director touched on things that only those who do regular bank transactions can understand.
A story like this should be told with great clarity.. But the director completely ignored that point in the film. He told the story in a very confusing way. It is no exaggeration to say that some scenes are understandable only to bank employees. The clarity that was present in the film 'Lucky Bhaskar', which was made on the same banking system, is completely lacking in this film. The scenes in this film are also very weak. Generally, banking activities seem like a puzzle to the average person. While watching this film, the audience also feels like they are solving a puzzle.
The way the gangster story is linked to this story is also not very good. The director, who filled the first half with slow and unnecessary scenes, tried to speed up the story a bit in the second half, but that too failed as the characters were not strong. When thinking of a story like this, the director should have put more effort into the writing. He should have worked on how to easily convince the audience of the scenes related to the banking system. But it seems that the director did not think about it. Only the occasional bit of entertainment from Satya's side feels like a relief.
Zebra Movie Performance:
Satyadev is impressive in the role of Surya. However, there are no scenes in this film that feel challenging as an actor. The role of Aadi Dolly Dhananjaya was not impressive. Otherwise, this is a role that does not have much scope for him to act. Priya Bhavani as Surya's lover seemed inadequate within her range. Sunil's role is also very tricky. However, that role also became clear due to the lack of proper scenes.
Although there was some novelty in the point that director Eshwar Karthik thought of as the story, the film remained like a bounced check due to the lack of proper writing and screenplay for the story. Ravi Basrur's music was not of much use for this film due to the flaws in the story. Finally, to watch 'Zebra', it seems that one needs to have an understanding of the banking sector and a little patience.
