Kishkindha Kaandam Movie Review: Malayalam has been recording a series of blockbusters in the first half of this year. It is noteworthy that the same momentum is being seen in the second half as well. 'Kishkinda Kandam' is one of the movies released in the second half. Directed by Dinjith Ayyathan, this movie hit the theaters on September 12th. Let's see what the story of this movie, which has Asif Ali - Aparna Balamurali - Vijay Raghavan in the lead roles, is.

Story

It is a village adjacent to the forest area. Appu Pillai (Vijay Raghavan), who previously served in the army, lives with his son Ajay Chandra (Asif Ali) daughter-in-law Praveena (Vaishnavi Raj), and grandson Chachu (Aarav). Ajay works as a forest officer. Due to some reasons, Praveena dies. Chachu goes missing. The investigation about Chachu continues. As the elections are approaching, Appu gets a call from the station asking all those with licensed guns to bring their guns and surrender them at the police station. However, his gun has already been missing for many days.

Ajay tells this at the last minute at the station. The police officer warns that even if a single bullet comes out of that gun, they will be held responsible for it. It is against this backdrop that Ajay marries Aparna (Aparna Balamurali). He brings her home with a vengeance. She learns that her father-in-law Appu Pillai is suffering from memory loss. She wonders what happened to her missing 'uncle'. She also has a nagging doubt as to how her father-in-law's gun could have gone missing.

Appu's behavior... his style of behavior makes Aparna suspicious. Appu thinks that Appu's hand might be behind the disappearance of the gun. The fact that he does not let anyone into his room and occasionally takes some things away from the house and burns them strengthens her suspicions. What will she do then? What truths will she discover in her search? This is the story.

Analysis

A father, his son, and daughter-in-law. This story revolves around these three main characters. Aparna, who has just arrived in Kapuram, wants her husband's missing son from his first wife to return. She thinks that if that happens, she will see her husband happy. However, in this matter, her suspicions about her mother-in-law grow stronger, and the first part continues. Now, some evidence is found that leads Aparna's suspicions about her mother-in-law to the truth. How will those incidents and evidence affect her?

The second half continues with the twists and turns of In fact, this is a very short story. It continues with few characters.. in a small scope. Although there are some other characters, they come and go depending on the context. This title was set because it is a village with a lot of monkeys. The way the director has conducted this story by linking three aspects of the mother-in-law's memory loss.. the disappearance of the child.. the missing gun seems interesting. The audience cannot guess what will happen until the end.

This is where this film scores high marks. Miracles do not happen on screen. The way the director has conducted this story close to naturalness is impressive.

Actors Performance

This story mainly runs on the character of senior artist Vijay Raghavan. His performance in the role of acting strangely.. suspiciously seems great. Asif Ali's performance in the role of father.. son.. wife.. is impressive. How will the newly arrived daughter-in-law understand that house? How will she share those things with her husband? The approach that Aparna has introduced seems very natural.

While the story and screenplay seem to be the main strengths, Ramesh's photography .. Mujeeb's background music .. Suraj's editing take it to the next level. If you look closely at Malayalam movies, it seems that they are half successful in connecting the story .. locations. Those locations are so natural that it seems like this really happened in this place. In the case of this movie too, the locations seem to have the upper hand. The reason why this movie, made with 7 crores, has collected more than 70 crores seems to be the storytelling. This mystery thriller, which runs interestingly throughout, can be watched with the family.
