Maharaja Movie Review: Kollywood star actor Vijay Sethupathi is at the top of the star heroes who make films based on the story. Makkal Selvan, who looks cool and simple, is doing magic on the silver screen with different roles. The film from this star actor compound is Maharaja. It was released today in Telugu and Tamil states amidst huge expectations. And did the film live up to its expectations..? Let's see..
Movie Story:
Maharaja (Vijay Sethupathi), who runs a salon shop, lives with his daughter Jyothi. He complains to the police that three thieves attacked him and kidnapped his Lakshmi. However, the police are still in a dilemma about who Lakshmi is and say no to registering a case. But the police continue to search for her. Who is Lakshmi? Why is Maharaja so careful? Will they find out who Lakshmi is? Is it the Maharaja's goal to bring Lakshmi back? The story revolves around the questions.
Analysis:
Vijay Sethupathi's announcement of his 50th film... with him appearing in a unique role has increased curiosity about the film. Taking on a role that suits him perfectly, as per the audience's expectations. Vijay Sethupathi's performance as an honest father in the first half... and as a man searching for Lakshmi, whom he loves so much, in the second half is amazing. There is no doubt that the film has made its mark with its unique screen presentation.
Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap, although he appeared for a short time, was impressed with his excellent acting. Anurag Kashyap's performance can be said to be one of the highlight points. Emotional scenes, interval bangs, and the twist in the climax provide a thrill to the audience. Vijay Sethupathi acts naturally in these scenes and delivers a stunning performance.
Despite the good screenplay.. the story is a bit confusing with twists and turns.. making the audience remember other films with the same theme. The dark comedy in the first half does not connect with everyone. Even if the film misses five minutes, is the story still in the present..? It is difficult to say whether it is in the past tense.
Technically:
Dinesh Purushothaman's effective cinematography.. Philomine Raj's perfect editing.. The production values are good. Ajaneesh Loknath's music, and background score are the backbone. The way the Telugu dubbing and dialogues are presented is good. For his second film, writer-cum-director Nithilan Swaminathan has delivered a compelling story despite the tough plot. The slow pace of the story in some scenes makes the audience lose interest.
Maharaja is a slow-paced story revolving around themes of emotions and revenge. Those who like Vijay Sethupathi's acting should watch it. For those who like movies with a slow-paced story and narrative, Maharaja is a must-watch this weekend.
