Pottel Movie Review: Pottel is a movie with Ananya Nagalla, Yuvchandra, Noyal, and Ajay in the lead roles. The film is produced by Suresh Kumar and Nishank Reddy and directed by Sahit Mothkuri. Pottel movie has come to the audience today October 25. As for the movie, the movie team did a good job by doing new promotions and taking the movie to the masses.
Story:
In the 1980s, in a village called Gurram Gattu on the Telangana-Maharashtra border, every twelve years a pottel was sacrificed to the village deity Balamma. The cowherd of the village should be guarding that pottel carefully. Thus, after the death of the father (Chhatrapati Shekhar), the responsibility of protecting Pottel falls to the elder Gangadhari (Yuvachandra).
In the Pattel clan of that village, Balamma has been a Patel for generations. But Patel (Ajay) has loved Balamma since childhood. But Patel plays the role of Balamma to dominate the village and make the weaker sections uneducated. Only Gangadhari knows this. No one in the village would believe that Gangadhari Patel was acting. Balamma stops Poonakam and Patel makes everyone in the village subordinate to him so that the weaker sections do not rise.
But Gangadhari insists that his younger brother died due to lack of education, his father died for his education, and that education is very important. Gangadhari brings whatever the village teacher Duryodhan (Srikanth Iyengar) wants and teaches his daughter secretly. Knowing this, Patel destroys Balamma Pottel of the village, which is being taken care of by Gangadhari, when he comes near the fair.
And did you find Balamma Potel? What did Patel do knowing that Gangadhari's daughter was studying? How did Gangadhari's father and younger brother die? Why does Patel act like Balamma Poonita? What about the love story and marriage with Gangadhari's wife Bujjamma (Ananya Nagala)? What did Gangadhari do for his daughter's education? To know what the people of the village did to Gangadhari after knowing that Balamma Pottel was gone, you have to watch the screen.
Analysis:
The Patel system in Telangana villages in the 1970s and 80s, they did not allow the weaker sections to get an education. This story is based on the point that education is very important. But to make that point the movie is shown very violently. Why do people feel so much violence? It is as if the director has taken the film to show some of his experiences and his anger. And the movie has been stretched a lot.
In some places, disappointment and boredom will come to the audience. Cinema is not to think about logic but small logic has also been left out. Although this story does not require a non-linear screenplay, it seems that the director uses a non-linear screenplay to show off his intelligence. Normal audiences will definitely get confused as to which scene happened before and which scene happened after, especially in the second half.
The story is good in a simple line that the father's struggle for his daughter's education, but the director is very hesitant to show it. The director has tried to show that this is what once happened in some Telangana villages. One class or one region may like Pottel movie in terms of story, but it is difficult to see it in terms of cinema. Caste discrimination, superstitions along with education, frauds done by some people in the name of God, and inter-caste marriage were also shown.
Even in the past, there were many movies about caste discrimination and stories of yesteryear, but they were screenplay-wise and also made interesting with some high moments. But that interest and high moments are missing in this movie. In recent movies, Gods come directly or indirectly at the end and kill the villain. Even if the characters are emotional in the movie, even if there are emotional scenes, it is difficult for the audience to connect with that emotion. If there is any plus for this movie it is only the making and acting of the artists.
Pottel Movie Actors Performance:
There is one thing that is very plus for this movie and that is only acting. Everyone was impressed with their acting. The new hero Yuvchandra is a village youth, a cowherd, and a father who fights for his daughter's education. He made it seem like a new hero would do so well. Ajay showed his universality in the role of Patel. Ajay, who has already done negative characters in many films, has acted very well in this film.
Ananya Nagala in the role of Buzzamma is also cute at first and then emotionally in the role of the wife. Noel Sheenu also acted very well in the role of Ananya. Little Baby Tanaswi also performed brilliantly and impressed the audience. Srikanth Iyengar also played the role of a teacher. Jeevan, Priyanka Sharma, Chhatrapati Shekhar, Riyaz... all the other actors have impressed in their respective roles.
Pottel Movie Technical Aspects:
Another plus for this movie is the art department. The set up of the town, the surroundings, and the used properties are very well designed to look like the 1980s by keeping good locations. The cinematography visuals are good. Background music and songs are okay. The background music in the main scene has been copied and changed from somewhere. Although it is a good story, the director needs clarification in the story. Sahit Motkuri has technically perfected the screenplay by adding unnecessary non-linear screenplay and unnecessary violent scenes. In terms of construction, it has been well spent.
What is the father's struggle for his daughter's education in the Pottel movie? In the 80s, it was shown with a story that what is the link of Uri Pottel to that struggle. This movie can be rated 2.5.
